RITMO DANZA VOLA IN AUSTRALIA

Around 8 months ago, I moved to Italy to dance with Andrea Gianotti. Today I am returning to Australia with Andrea and her family to compete in the Australian Championships in Melbourne.

The last 8 months have been a jam-packed with so many different experiences. Many things that you as readers will think are normal have been very strange for me.
Things like:
- Eating only biscuits and milk for breakfast - as opposed to cereal (with cold milk)
- Always sitting down for lunch and taking my time - instead of rushing around and eating as I go.
- Not drinking milk after lunch time, or in tea (Tea with milk is normal in the rest of the world okay?)
The buildings, landscape and general attitudes are steeped in tradition. Nothing is more sacred than family, expect maybe food. Or food with your family.
One thing Italians can be proud of is their welcoming nature. I immediately felt at home at Ritmo Danza. My fellow competitors and their families have welcomed me with open arms into this school and into Italy. When I first arrived, I didn't speak any italian. But now, I speak a little bit more than no italian.
My coaches Simone and Michela have taught me a lot about dancing and myself. I am very luck that everyone is patient with me.
As we drive to the airport and the messages come flooding in, wishing us good luck on our journey to Australia, I am reminded how lucky I am to have found this place.
I have made some wonderful friends here, who I will keep for the rest of my life. Thank you to everyone.
